Hello! I’m Michelle Lui, a designer, researcher, and educator — I design emerging technology and research how we learn with technology and with each other. In addition, I teach courses on digital media, immersive environments, and gameful learning.
I create extended reality experiences to help learners ‘see’ the world differently.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto Mississauga, investigating design factors that enhance understanding in virtual reality. In addition, I am exploring how physiological measures, like eye-tracking and psychophysiological techniques, can augment more traditional methods — to further examine the connections between sensorimotor activity, embodied interactions, and human cognition.
From mobile applications and websites to room-sized simulations and VR, I work with technologies that blur the boundaries of our physical and digital worlds, connecting people with meaningful new experiences.
