Project Description

Community Healthworker Assistive Technologies (CHAT) consists of a tablet computer application that aids community health workers during home visits in HIV-affected South African households. Equipped with educational media on the tablet, such as videos and animations on What is HIV, Antiretroviral Medications, Childhood Illnesses…etc., CHAT aims to promote discourse amongst community health workers and household members. In engaging others in discussion the community health workers would develop new understandings about health topics as well as improved pedagogical techniques. The project also features data forms that communicate directly with clinics, GPS tagging of households, and more.
